The Fairfield Falcons had to hit the road for their first game and sadly it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They were dealt a 72-40 defeat at the hands of Oxford on Friday. Fairfield has struggled against Oxford recently, as their game on Friday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Fairfield's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Connor Fowler, who scored 20 points along with 5 rebounds. Calen Wente was another key contributor, scoring 9 points along with 10 rebounds.
Oxford got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Samuel Wheeler out in front who scored 21 points. Another player making a difference was Cordell Jordan, who scored 14 points along with 9 rebounds and 3 blocks.
Fairfield's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Oxford, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
Fairfield will be playing in front of their home fans against Lincoln at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Oxford, they will head out on the road to face off against Norwich at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
