Volleyball Recap: Kankakee Valley Starts Season with Loss at Home

Kankakee Valley unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the Boone Grove Wolves by a score of 2-1 on Saturday. While the Kougars didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Wolves 25-18 in the first set.

Kankakee Valley started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. The final score came out to 18-25, 25-17, 15-3.

Aubrey Stowers paced Kankakee Valley's offense, picking up 11 kills. Stowers got some help from Izzy Jonkman and her 12 assists. Finally, Addison Koselke and Tess Bell kept the team grounded on defense, each having blocked two attacks.

Lauren Voudrie was the offensive standout of the match as she had 20 digs and one assist. She has been hot, having posted 12 or more digs the last seven times she's played.

Kankakee Valley didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 2-1 win against Merrillville on the 16th. As for Boone Grove, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against East Chicago Central on the 16th.
