Preview: Aspen Skiers vs. Rifle Bears
The Aspen Skiers will head out on the road to challenge the Rifle Bears at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. The pair have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Aspen and seven for Rifle.
Aspen's game on Wednesday was all tied up 16-16 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell just short of Steamboat Springs by a score of 38-36. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Aspen has scored all season.
Meanwhile, Rifle came up short against Coal Ridge on Friday and fell 59-52.
Aspen's defeat dropped their record down to 15-4. As for Rifle, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 13 of their last 14 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-17 record this season.
Aspen strolled past Rifle when the teams last played back in January by a score of 52-35. The rematch might be a little tougher for Aspen since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
