Basketball Recap: Conwell-Egan Catholic Comes Up Short

Conwell-Egan Catholic was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost to the Neumann-Goretti Saints on the road by a 84-66 margin. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 147th, while the Saints are ranked 33rd).

Neumann-Goretti's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Alassan N'Diaye led the charge by going 7 of 14 en route to 19 points along with six boards and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Keon Long-Mtume, who went 9 for 13 on his way to 21 points and six rebounds.

Conwell-Egan Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Neumann-Goretti, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 6-7.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Monsignor Bonner/Archbishop Prendergast Catholic the next time they take the court. Neumann-Goretti will host Monsignor Bonner/Archbishop Prendergast Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while Conwell-Egan Catholic will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
