Basketball Recap: Therrell Comes Up Short

If Therrell was riding high fresh off their 73-29 takedown of Washington last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Therrell Panthers were dealt a 74-43 loss at the hands of the Holy Innocents Episcopal Golden Bears on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 223rd, while the Golden Bears are ranked ninth).

When it comes to explaining why Therrell lost, don't look at Gordon Davis. Despite the final result, he posted 11 points. Davis is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Morion Mcwhorter was another key player, putting up six points.

It was another big night for Caleb Wilson, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten boards for Holy Innocents Episcopal. The dominant performance also gave Wilson a new career-high in steals (five). Another player making a difference was Devin Hutcherson, who went 5 for 7 en route to 13 points and six rebounds.

With the defeat, Therrell broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-8. As for Holy Innocents Episcopal, the victory was the 12th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-2.

Therrell wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 59-43 loss against Sprayberry on the 18th. Holy Innocents Episcopal has also already played their next match, a 61-57 defeat against St. Joseph on the 18th.
