Basketball Game Preview: Wake Prep Academy Guardians vs. Woods Charter Wolves

The Wake Prep Academy Guardians will take on the Woods Charter Wolves at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are still undefeated after three games, but that won't be the case come Tuesday.

Wake Prep Academy is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Roxboro Community: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Guardians blew the Bulldogs out of the water with a 62-18 final score. With the Guardians ahead 35-10 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Meanwhile, Woods Charter hadn't done well against Research Triangle recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way two weeks ago. The Wolves came out on top against the Raptors by a score of 52-41.

Wake Prep Academy better keep an eye on Levi Haygood. He was instrumental in Woods Charter's win, almost dropping a double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Haygood a new career-high in steals (five). Another player making a difference was Campbell Blackburn, who posted 14 points.

Woods Charter's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Wake Prep Academy, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 3-0.

Everything came up roses for Wake Prep Academy against Woods Charter when the teams last played back in February of 2024, as the squad secured a 73-36 win. Will the Guardians repeat their success, or do the Wolves have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
