Football Recap: Phoenix Comes Up Short

Friday just wasn't the day for Phoenix's offense. They took a blow against the Cascade Christian Challengers on Friday, falling 69-0. The Pirates have struggled against the Challengers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Cascade Christian was led to victory by Deryk Farmer and Bryson Walker. Farmer threw for 229 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 81.8% of his passes, while Walker gained 123 total yards and four touchdowns. Those 229 passing yards gave Farmer a new career-high. Another big playmaker for Cascade Christian was Caleb Scaglione, who returned a punt for a touchdown.

Phoenix's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Cascade Christian, their victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-0.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Phoenix is set to challenge their familiar foe Klamath Union at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Cascade Christian will face off against rival North Valley at 7:00 p.m. on the 24th. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Challengers 5.9, the Knights 13.6) so any points scored will be well earned.
