High school girls basketball: Juju Watkins, Breya Cunningham, Hannah Hidalgo headline inaugural USA Nike Hoop Summit selections

Eleven of 13-player roster has USA Basketball experience in preparation of April 8 contest in Portland.

Juju Waktins, Breya Cunningham and Mikaylah Williams head a star-studded roster announced by USA Basketball for the inaugural class of the Nike Hoop Summit. The 13 players face off against the World Team's top international players 19 and younger on April 8 at the Moda Center in Portland, Ore.

The roster features 10 Preseason MaxPreps All-Americans.

The event has been held annually since 1995 on the boys side, except for 2001-03 and 2020-21, and played in Portland since 2008. The USA holds a 16-7 series advantage over the World Team on the boys side.

Zoe Brooks and Ashlynn Shade are making their USA Basketball debuts.

Breya Cunningham and Jada Williams are teammates for La Jolla Country Day (La Jolla, Calif. and will be together at Arizona next season.

• LSU (Aalyah Del Rosario and Mikaylah Williams) and UConn (K.K. Arnold and Shade) are the only two colleges with two commits each.

• All 13 players are committed to play at a Power 5 school after high school.

Archbishop Mitty (San Jose, Calif.) coach Sue Phillips heads the squad along with Carlesa Dixon of Summer Creek (Houston) and Special Jennings of Montverde Academy (Montverde, Fla.). Phillips has served USA Basketball by leading four junior national teams to gold medals. Dixon was a court coach in preparation for the 2022 FIBA U17 World Cup. Jennings is making her coaching debut but has been involved with USA Basketball's Coach Academy programming.
