Baseball Recap: Honesdale Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Honesdale had lost four games on the road, but after bumping their record up to 8-11 on Wednesday that streak is in the rearview. They walked away with a 6-3 victory over the Holy Cross Crusaders. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 5-3 back in April.

Jared Ahern spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up ten Ks. Honesdale is 2-1 when Ahern posts eight or more strikeouts, but 6-10 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Connor Tirney, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick Martin, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

As for Holy Cross, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 12 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season. As for they, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-12.

On Holy Cross' side, they saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Josh Lentowski, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Honesdale has already played their next contest, a 6-0 defeat against Mid Valley on the 12th. As for Holy Cross, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, an 8-0 loss against Holy Redeemer on the 10th.
