Bessemer Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 17th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were dealt a 73-38 loss at the hands of the Edgewood Academy Wildcats. One positive for the Rebels, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Edgewood Academy found their leader in sophomore Lexie Smith, who posted 39 points along with five boards and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubrey Newton, who went 6 for 14 on her way to 13 points and four steals.

Bessemer Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Edgewood Academy, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 14-9.

Bessemer Academy will look to defend their home court on Monday against Restoration Academy at 7:00 p.m. Bessemer Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Edgewood Academy, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 62-4 victory against Banks Academy on the 31st.
