Pearl hadn't done well against Brandon recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Pearl Pirates came out on top in a nail-biter against the Brandon Bulldogs, sneaking past 73-70. The victory was familiar territory for the Pirates who have now won four games in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Brandon lost, don't look at Braylon Barnes. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double on 31 points and nine rebounds. That was a full 44.3% of Brandon's points, marking the third time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Elijah Morey, who went 9 for 13 on his way to 18 points in addition to five boards and three steals.

Pearl has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. As for Brandon, the loss snapped their winning streak at seven games and leaves them with a 13-10 record.
