Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Chaparral

Chaparral waltzed into their matchup on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with an 8-4 win over the Murrieta Valley Nighthawks. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 3-0 win on Thursday.

Chaparral got a great performance from Dylan Hicks as he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up four earned runs off only two hits. That's the most strikeouts Hicks has posted since back in February.

On the hitting side, Dean Mariani was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Chaparral's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 7-3 (and 5-7 when he doesn't).

Chaparral's record is now 12-10. As for Murrieta Valley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season.
