Softball Recap: Marionville Comes Up Short

If Marionville was feeling good fresh off their 13-7 takedown of Pierce City last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Comets fell just short of the Lockwood Tigers by a score of 6-5 on Thursday. The Comets haven't had much luck with the Tigers recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Marionville got a massive performance out of Maggie Murphy, who fired off two home runs while going 3-for-4. Murphy has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Brooklyn Holder, who went 3-for-4 with one home run and two runs.

Marionville's loss dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Lockwood, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-3.

Coming up, Marionville will venture away from home to square off against Verona at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Lockwood, they will welcome Greenfield at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
