Basketball Recap: Arizona School for the Deaf & Blind Takes a Loss

Arizona School for the Deaf & Blind was the 47-46 winner over Phoenix Day School for the Deaf when they last played one another last Saturday, but their luck changed this time around. The Arizona School for the Deaf & Blind Sentinels fell 39-32 to the Phoenix Day School for the Deaf Roadrunners on Friday. The Sentinels have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Arizona School for the Deaf & Blind still got an impressive performance from Irving Arizmendi, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 16 rebounds.

Even though they lost, Arizona School for the Deaf & Blind smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Phoenix Day School for the Deaf's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Donovan Etheridge led the charge by dropping a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds. That's the most points Etheridge has posted since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Franchesco Yesuf, who posted 15 points and three steals.

Arizona School for the Deaf & Blind's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Phoenix Day School for the Deaf, with the victory, they broke their six-game losing streak and moved their record to 1-4.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Colorado School for the Deaf Blind the next time they take the court. Arizona School for the Deaf & Blind will head out to face Colorado School for the Deaf Blind at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, while Phoenix Day School for the Deaf will head out to face them on Saturday.
