It was fun while it lasted, but Pinconning's undefeated season came to an end after eight games on Friday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 52-51 to the Meridian Mustangs. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Spartans came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 184th, while the Mustangs are ranked 449th).

Having lost for the first time this season, Pinconning fell to 8-1. As for Meridian, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pinconning will face off against Valley Lutheran at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Meridian, they will take on Gladwin at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
