Volleyball Recap: Westfield Takes Down Ranked Chicopee Comp

Westfield faced Chicopee Comp in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Bombers didn't even let the Colts on the board, marking the Bombers' second-straight 3-0 shutout. The Bombers haven't had any issues with the Colts recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

Westfield not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Chicopee Comp between 13 and 16 points across their sets. The final score came out to 25-13, 25-16, 25-13.

Westfield's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nolan Rodgers led the charge by getting eight digs and three aces. Another player making a difference was Max Yurtuc, who had 14 assists.

Rodgers wasn't the only good server: Westfield was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 13 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least 11 aces in five consecutive matches.

Westfield's record is now 7-1. As for Chicopee Comp, their defeat was their first of the season and also makes their record 7-1.

Looking ahead, Westfield will face off against Belchertown at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Chicopee Comp, they will take on Central at 12:00 p.m. on Friday.
