Preview: Dysart Demons vs. Cortez Colts

Dysart is 9-1 against Cortez since January of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Dysart Demons' road trip will continue as they head out to face the Cortez Colts at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th. One thing working in Dysart's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 14 matchups.

Dysart put the finishing touches on their ninth blowout victory of the season on Thursday. They blew past Apache Junction, posting a 86-42 win on the road. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Dysart has managed all season.

It was another big night for Nigel Anderson, who scored 16 points along with six assists and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Zane Connelly, who scored 12 points along with four steals.

Meanwhile, even though Tempe scored an imposing 56 points on Thursday, Cortez still came out on top. Cortez was the clear victor by a 77-56 margin over Tempe. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Cortez has posted since December 7, 2023.

Devan Fowler was his usual excellent self, scoring 26 points along with three steals. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last five games he's played. Ulysses Espinoza was another key contributor, scoring 24 points.

Dysart's win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.7 points per game. As for Cortez, the win got them back to even at 8-8.

Dysart took their victory against Cortez when the teams last played back in January of 2023 by a conclusive 71-46. The rematch might be a little tougher for Dysart since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
