Softball Recap: Gila Ridge Has No Trouble Against Bourgade Catholic

While Gila Ridge put up plenty of runs on Saturday, the same can't be said for Bourgade Catholic. Everything went the Gila Ridge Hawks' way against the Bourgade Catholic Golden Eagles as the Gila Ridge Hawks made off with a 13-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Hawks, who have now won four matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.

Violet Silva made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two hits any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lillyana Price, who fired off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-3. Those home runs were her first of the season. Jayden Waymire was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

Gila Ridge lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in March of 2024.

The victory made it two in a row for Gila Ridge and bumps their season record up to 5-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games. As for Bourgade Catholic, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-4 record.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gila Ridge will challenge Kofa at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Gila Ridge is facing Kofa at the right time seeing as Kofa is stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Bourgade Catholic, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Gilbert Christian at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Gilbert Christian has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16 runs per game on average), something Bourgade Catholic will no doubt try to take advantage of.
