Basketball Recap: East St. Louis Comes Up Short

If East St. Louis was feeling good fresh off their 50-25 takedown of Belleville West last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The East St. Louis Flyers were dealt a 73-28 loss at the hands of the Edwardsville Tigers on Tuesday. The Flyers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-19.

East St. Louis has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season. As for Edwardsville, they moved to 6-5 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. East St. Louis will head out to challenge O'Fallon at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. O'Fallon knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully East St. Louis likes a good challenge. As for Edwardsville, they will head out on the road to square off against Collinsville at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
