Baseball Recap: Antelope Comes Up Short

Antelope extended their losing streak to four on Saturday, dropping them down to 2-7. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 10-8 heartbreaker at the hands of the Ash Fork/Seligman Spartans. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Rams have suffered since April 21, 2025.

Mariano Valencia made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Christian Avila, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

As for Ash Fork/Seligman, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-8. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.0 runs over those games.

On Ash Fork/Seligman's side, Adrian Santoyo was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Santoyo is becoming a predictor of the Spartans' success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 2-8 when he doesn't). D. J. Godinez was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Antelope wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 10-3 loss against Anthem Prep on the 14th. As for Ash Fork/Seligman, they will face off against Northland Prep Academy at 2:00 p.m. on Friday.
