Basketball Game Preview: Dugger Union Bulldogs vs. Shoals Jug Rox

The Dugger Union Bulldogs will head out to square off against the Shoals Jug Rox at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for Dugger Union and three for Shoals.

Last Saturday, Dugger Union came up short against Martinsville and fell 43-30.

Despite their loss, Dugger Union saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Sage Stahl, who posted six points in addition to 15 rebounds and three steals, was perhaps the best of all. Stahl has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more boards the last 16 times she's played. Jordyn Smith was another key player, putting up 11 points and six steals.

Even though they lost, Dugger Union smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in ten consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 56-28, which was the final score in Shoals' tilt against Wood Memorial on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Jug Rox can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 385th, while the Trojans are ranked 121st).

Dugger Union's record now sits at 5-12. As for Shoals, their record now sits at 3-17.

Dugger Union was taken down by Shoals 73-23 in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Dugger Union was down 30-8.
