Volleyball Recap: Dover Falls to Antietam in First Game of Season

Dover kicked off their season on the road on Friday and hit a couple of potholes. They came up short against the Antietam Mountaineers, falling 3-0. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it 12 in a row.

Dover was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the first set very close. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 25-15, 25-15.

Brayden Yelk was the offensive standout of the contest as he had 21 assists and three aces. Those three aces gave him a new career-high. Quintin Heller was another key player, getting five kills and three aces.

Antietam's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dover will head out to challenge Red Lion at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Antietam, they will venture away from home to take on William Penn at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
