Basketball Recap: Leland Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Leland lost against Hinckley-Big Rock back in February and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Panthers took a 68-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Royals. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Monday (56), the Panthers still had to take the loss.

When it comes to explaining why Leland lost, don't look at Declan Brennan. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double with 20 points and nine boards. Brennan is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 46% in the last seven games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Tristan Garcia, who went 5-for-8 en route to 10 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals.

Leland has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-3 record this season. As for Hinckley-Big Rock, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-1.

Looking ahead, Leland won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Annawan at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hinckley-Big Rock will take on Rochelle Zell Jewish in a holiday battle at 6:45 p.m. on Monday.
