Baseball Recap: Spring Valley Takes Down Ranked Martinsburg

Spring Valley faced Martinsburg in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Timberwolves narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Bulldogs 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Timberwolves have posted since April 15th.

Gage Roberts tossed a big game, tossing six innings while giving up four earned runs off six hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Brody Spencer, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Spring Valley's victory bumped their record up to 15-8. As for Martinsburg, the defeat snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 16-9 record.
