            Softball Recap: Swain County Maroon Devils vs. Chase Trojans        
        
		
        
        
            Swain County gave up the first  runs on Friday, but they didn't let that get them  down. They narrowly escaped with a  victory as the  squad sidled past the Chase Trojans  6-4. The  win made it back-to-back  victories for the Maroon Devils.
 Rylee Rawls made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she  struck out eight batters over  seven innings while giving up just two earned  (and two unearned) runs off   eight  hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't  tossed less than seven  strikeouts any time she's  pitched this season. She was also big at the plate,  going 2-for-4 with one  home run.
 In other batting news, Swain County let  Faith Woodard and  Hadley Shuler run wild. Woodard  went 2-for-4 with one  home run and two  RBI, while  Shuler  scored two  runs while going 3-for-4.  Kennedy Anthony was another key player,  scoring two  runs while going 1-for-4.

 Swain County  kept the outfield on their toes and  finished the game with 13  hits. That's the most  hits they've posted since back in March of 2024.
Swain County now  has a winning record of 2-1. As for Chase, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.
 Coincidentally, Swain County and Chase will both be playing Asheville the next time they take the field. Chase will head out to face Asheville at 5:30  p.m.  on Monday, while Swain County will head out to face them  at 6:30  p.m.  on Tuesday.
