Football Game Preview: Central Eagles vs. North Central Knights

Central is 8-2 against North Central since October of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Eagles will challenge the Knights at 7:30 p.m. Central's defense has only allowed 12.2 points per game this season, so North Central's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Central is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Chesterfield: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Eagles blew the Golden Rams out of the water with a 40-0 final score. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Golden Rams: they've now won four in a row.

Central's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dwayne Louallen Jr, who rushed for 103 yards and a pair of TDs on only eight carries, and also threw for 178 yards and two touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes. The dominant performance also gave Louallen Jr a new career-high in passer rating (163.2). Another rusher making a difference was Ashten Wilson, who rushed for 118 yards and a pair of scores.

Central didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Chesterfield to a completion percentage of just 50%. The Eagles have been improving in that area: they had allowed a completion percentage of 0.61 earlier this season, but they've only allowed one of 0.61 in their last three games.

Central didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Scoot Colyer, Marques Allen, and Dylan Tomberlin picked up one apiece.

Meanwhile, North Central hadn't done well against Andrew Jackson recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Knights came out on top against the Volunteers by a score of 17-7.

Central's record now sits at 7-1. As for North Central, their record is now 7-2.

Everything came up roses for Central against North Central in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, as the team secured a 38-7 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
