Volleyball Recap: Taylorville Starts off Right with Win over Rochester

Taylorville had to kick off their season on the road on Monday, but they showed no ill effects. They had just enough and edged out the Rochester Rockets 2-1. The Tornadoes have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Rockets, too.

Taylorville had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. The final score came out to 21-25, 25-17, 25-18.

Taylorville got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Alayna Vincent out in front who had 11 kills, nine digs, and two aces. That's the most aces Vincent has posted since back in September of 2024. Brogan Anderson was another key player, getting 17 digs and five assists.

When it comes to explaining why Rochester lost, don't look at Sam Kerley. Despite the final result, she had 14 digs and two assists.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Taylorville will challenge Shelbyville at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Rochester, they will square off against Lincoln at 7:00 p.m. on September 2.
