Preview: Kingwood Mustangs vs. North Shore Mustangs
Kingwood is 0-5 against North Shore since October of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Kingwood Mustangs will be playing at home against the North Shore Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. Kingwood will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each matchup than the last.
Last Friday, Kingwood earned a 35-25 win over Humble.
Marquez Davis went supernova for Kingwood, rushing for 148 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.7 yards per carry. Davis was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 64 yards. Jailen Monegan was another key contributor, picking up 88 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Kingwood's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. Leading the way was Casen McDonald and his two sacks.
Meanwhile, North Shore and Atascocita (ranked six and 34 in the MaxPreps national rankings respectively) squared off in a high-profile match. Everything went North Shore's way against Atascocita on Friday as North Shore made off with a 61-35 win. The win was just business as usual for North Shore, who after nine games remain undefeated this season.
Kingwood's win bumped their record up to 3-6. As for North Shore, their win was their sixth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 9-0.
Kingwood was dealt a bruising 56-7 defeat at the hands of North Shore in their previous matchup back in November of 2022. Will Kingwood have more luck at home instead of on the road?
