Preview: Parkland Mustangs vs. Davie War Eagles
Parkland has been on the road for two straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Davie War Eagles at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Last Tuesday, it was a hard-fought contest, but Parkland had to settle for a 53-51 loss against Reagan.
Defeat or not, Parkland got some senior leadership from SaMaurie Moses and Joshua Moore. Moses scored 14 points along with three steals, while Moore. dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds. Moore hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for 14 straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Brock Jackson, who scored seven points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Davie pushed their score all the way to 59 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 72-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of West Forsyth. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (56), Davie still had to take the loss.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Jackson Powers, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. He hasn't dropped below ten rebounds for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Ethan Ratledge, who scored 15 points.
Parkland now has a losing record at 10-11. As for Davie, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 18-3.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the pair are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Parkland hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 58.2 points per game. However, it's not like Davie struggles in that department as they've been averaging 67.9 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Parkland came up short against Davie in their previous matchup back in January, falling 72-64. Will Parkland have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
