Recap: Sonoran Science Academy vs. Thunderbird Adventist Academy

Sonoran Science Academy's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight defeat. They took a serious blow against Thunderbird Adventist Academy, falling 65-32. While losing is never fun, Sonoran Science Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 293rd, while Thunderbird Adventist Academy is ranked 74th).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Thunderbird Adventist Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Malcolm Tucker, who scored 21 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Tucker has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Gideon Orellana, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.

Sonoran Science Academy dropped their record down to 2-13 with that loss, which was their seventh straight at home. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 26.4 points per game. As for Thunderbird Adventist Academy, the win (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 12-1.

Sonoran Science Academy won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Our Lady of the Sun Academy at 6:30 p.m. on February 8th. Thunderbird Adventist Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
