Basketball Recap: Olathe East Comes Up Short

Olathe East was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 45-39 heartbreaker at the hands of the Goodland Cowboys. While losing is never fun, the Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 238th, while the Cowboys are ranked 87th).

Olathe East's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Goodland, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. It'll be a Battle of the Birds when the Olathe East Hawks challenge the Junction City/St. Xavier Bluejays on Tuesday. Olathe East is facing Junction City/St. Xavier at the right time seeing as Junction City/St. Xavier is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Goodland, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Scott at 6:00 p.m.
