Basketball Recap: Kathleen Red Devils vs. Lake Gibson Braves
The Kathleen Red Devils's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their sixth straight defeat. They took a 65-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lake Gibson. Kathleen has not had much luck with the Braves recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Several Red Devils players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jeremy Nixon, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. Nixon hasn't dropped below 15 points for four straight games. Jaiquan Torrence was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with seven rebounds.
Kathleen has traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-18 record this season. As for Lake Gibson, their win bumped their record up to 11-13.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kathleen will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Blue Streaks at 8:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Hopefully Sebring focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 last Monday. As for Lake Gibson, they will head out on the road to square off against the Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. McKeel Academy will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
