Football Recap: Leonard Comes Up Short Despite Nan Mildort's Big Defensive Game

Leonard fell victim to Dr. Joaquin Garcia and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They came up short against the Dr. Joaquin Garcia Bulldogs, falling 20-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Lancers of the 7-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.

Leonard didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Nan Mildort.

A big part of Dr. Joaquin Garcia's win came down to the chemistry between Maliyah Newton and her top target Natalie Molina. Newton threw for 167 yards and three touchdowns while Molina picked up 34 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Leonard's defeat dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Dr. Joaquin Garcia, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 10-0.

Coming up, Leonard will welcome Oxbridge Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Oxbridge Academy's defense has only allowed 2.7 points per game this season, so Leonard's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Dr. Joaquin Garcia, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Royal Palm Beach at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday.
