Baseball Recap: Regis Comes Up Short

Regis dropped down to 10-8 on Wednesday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Monsignor Farrell Lions by a score of 8-7. The Raiders were not able to make up for their loss to the Lions from their previous meeting back in May of 2025.

As for Monsignor Farrell, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-10 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games.

For Monsignor Farrell's part, Chris DeFazio tossed a big game, tossing 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits.

On the hitting side, Nicholas Fopeano was excellent, going 1-for-5 with three runs and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Justin Haag, who got on base in two of his five plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Regis and Monsignor Farrell should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps New York Rankings. The Raiders will square off against Christ the King at 4:30 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (265 vs. 623). Meanwhile, Monsignor Farrell (ranked 181st) will meet Salesian (ranked 415th) at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
