Basketball Recap: Harding Falls Despite Big Games from Ja'leah Provitt and Akeelha Barnes

Harding lost against Canfield back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Harding Raiders lost to the Canfield Cardinals at home by a 36-22 margin. The matchup marked the Raiders' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Akeelha Barnes and Ja'Leah Provitt certainly did their best on Wednesday to avoid the loss. Barnes posted seven points and ten boards, while Provitt scored eight points. Barnes is becoming a predictor of Harding's success: when she posts at least eight rebounds the team is 10-5 (and 1-4 when she doesn't). Trinity Taylor was another key player, putting up four points.

Harding has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 11-9 record this season. As for Canfield, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 20-1.

Harding wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 65-13 victory against Orange on the 8th. As for Canfield, they have also already played their next matchup, a 38-30 defeat against Streetsboro on the 8th.
