Softball Game Preview: Palmyra-Macedon Red Raiders vs. Mynderse Academy Blue Devils

The Palmyra-Macedon Red Raiders will challenge the Mynderse Academy Blue Devils at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. Palmyra-Macedon is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.1 runs per game this season.

Palmyra-Macedon fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Aquinas Institute on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Little Irish by a score of 3-2. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Red Raiders couldn't push the score so high this time.

Palmyra-Macedon saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaedy Andross, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Mynderse Academy ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They came out on top against Waterloo by a score of 17-12. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Blue Devils.

Hannah O'Brien was a standout: she got on base in three of her six plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Haley Young, who went 4-for-5 with three runs and two RBI.

Palmyra-Macedon has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-6 record this season. As for Mynderse Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 9-6.

Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Palmyra-Macedon hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .347. However, it's not like Mynderse Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .320. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
