Basketball Game Preview: Genoa-Hugo/Karval Pirates vs. Arickaree Bison

The Genoa-Hugo/Karval Pirates will square off against the Arickaree Bison at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Genoa-Hugo/Karval is headed into Thursday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their eighth straight games dating back to last season on Saturday. The matchup between the Pirates and Briggsdale didn't end well, with the Pirates falling 61-43.

Despite the defeat, Genoa-Hugo/Karval saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ryker Lockhart went 6-for-13 to rack up 14 points in addition to six rebounds and five steals. Another player making a difference was Tayler Thelen, who posted three points and five boards.

Meanwhile, Arickaree played a tough game on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 53-24 loss at the hands of Las Animas.

Arickaree's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Genoa-Hugo/Karval, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.
