Softball Game Preview: Albertville Aggies vs. Decatur Red Raiders

The Albertville Aggies will head out on the road to face off against the Decatur Red Raiders at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Albertville will be strutting in after a victory while Decatur will be coming in after a defeat.

Albertville was handed a 12-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Lindsay Lane Christian Academy 6-4.

Chloe Reed tossed a big game, tossing 5.1 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Caroline Aaron was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. What's more, she posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in February. Adison Pierce was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Decatur fell victim to Hartselle and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Tigers, falling 20-0. The Red Raiders' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it four in a row.

Decatur's loss dropped their record down to 2-18. As for Albertville, their victory bumped their record up to 11-9-2.

Albertville was able to grind out a solid win over Decatur in their previous matchup back in March, winning 6-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Aggies since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
