Basketball Recap: Norwich Free Academy Wins High-Profile Match Against Ledyard

On Friday, Norwich Free Academy faced Ledyard in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Norwich Free Academy Wildcats had just enough and edged the Ledyard Colonels out 46-43. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Wildcats have posted since January 20th.

Leading Norwich Free Academy to victory were Emily Orcutt and Petra Berry. Orcutt went 6-for-12 to rack up 19 points in addition to eight boards and three steals, while Berry dropped a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. The contest was Orcutt's third in a row with at least 18 points. Another player making a difference was Brooke Stringer, who posted five points and three steals.

Norwich Free Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 11 consecutive games.

Norwich Free Academy has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. As for Ledyard, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-5.
