Basketball Recap: Sylvia Krueger's Big Game Can't Quite Lead De Soto over Rushford-Peterson

After a string of three wins, De Soto's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They came up short against the Rushford-Peterson Trojans, falling 66-42. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Pirates have suffered since February 20, 2024.

De Soto lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Sylvia Krueger, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 boards. The match was Krueger's third in a row with at least ten points. Kylee Venner was another key player, putting up 16 points.

De Soto's loss dropped their record down to 10-5. As for Rushford-Peterson, they pushed their record up to 11-6 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. De Soto will take on Kickapoo at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Kickapoo will roll in looking for their 13th straight victory, something De Soto surely won't give up without a fight. As for Rushford-Peterson, they will square off against Cotter at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
