Basketball Recap: Abernathy Takes a Loss

If Abernathy was riding high fresh off their 69-30 takedown of Tahoka last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Abernathy Antelopes fell 77-68 to the Floydada Whirlwinds on Tuesday. It was the first time this season that the Antelopes let down their fans at home.

Tyrean Henderson was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 33 points and 13 rebounds for Floydada. Henderson's evening made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least 18 points. Another player making a difference was Sergio Valadez, who posted 19 points and seven boards.

Abernathy's defeat dropped their record down to 17-9. As for Floydada, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 20-10 record this season.

Abernathy has already played their next contest, a 58-42 loss against New Home on the 7th. As for Floydada, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 97-31 win against Ralls on the 7th.
