Soccer Recap: Oak Grove Comes Up Short

Oak Grove was the 2-1 winner over Petal when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Oak Grove Warriors took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Petal Panthers on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi soccer rankings (they are ranked 42nd, while the Panthers are ranked fifth).

Oak Grove dropped their record down to 4-6-1 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Petal, the win keeps them at an undefeated 8-0.

Oak Grove and Petal's offenses will be put to the test in their next games. Oak Grove and Brandon (who has only given up 0.42 goals per game) will meet at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Petal will face off against Northwest Rankin at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, a squad that's only allowed 0.42 goals per game.
