Liberty-Benton dropped their record down to 18-4 on Saturday, which also ended the team's 11-game streak of wins. They fell 6-1 to the Northview Wildcats. The game marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

As for Northview, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-10 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games.

For Northview's part, Roman McKarus spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits. McKarus is becoming a predictor of the Wildcats' success: when he allows at most two earned runs the team is 5-2 (and 6-8 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, Charlie Paulson was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Gavin Smith, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Liberty-Benton will head out to take on Lima Central Catholic at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Northview, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Tinora at 5:00 p.m.
