Softball Recap: Tuscarora Takes a Loss

Tuscarora had lost three straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 3-4 to make it four. They took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Heritage Pride. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Peyton Travis was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she struck out ten batters over six innings while giving up five earned runs off six hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Anna Hurst made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.

As for Heritage, their record is now 5-6. The victory continues a trend for them in their matchups with Tuscarora: they've now won three in a row.

On Heritage's side, Gabbie Haynie spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up eight Ks.

On the hitting side, Heritage let Noelle Smith and Ryleigh Dooley run wild. Smith went 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs, while Dooley went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that Smith has launched this season.

Heritage didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 5-2 win against Tuscarora on the 29th. Hopefully the Huskies paid attention to the Pride's game: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Pride at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday.
