Softball Game Preview: Berwick Panthers vs. Riverside Academy Rebels

Berwick hasn't had much luck against Riverside Academy recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Berwick Panthers will square off against the Riverside Academy Rebels at 4:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

It was a proper cat-fight when Berwick faced off against Morgan City on Saturday. Berwick's pitchers stepped up to hand Morgan City an 18-0 shutout. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Berwick let Ann Marie Beadle and Jordyn Gaudet run wild. Beadle scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2, while Gaudet went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Bryanne Davis was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.

Meanwhile, Riverside Academy got the win against Zachary on Thursday by a conclusive 20-6. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Rebels.

Riverside Academy's victory was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs over those games. As for Berwick, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Berwick might still be hurting after the 12-2 defeat they got from Riverside Academy when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Can Berwick avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
