Basketball Game Preview: Blevins Hornets vs. Jasper Pirates

The Blevins Hornets will face off against the Jasper Pirates at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Blevins knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 13 games -- so hopefully Jasper likes a good challenge.

Blevins is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Ouachita, posting a 99-51 victory. The game was the first time the Hornets have beaten the Warriors on their court since October 24, 2017.

Meanwhile, it's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Jasper can now relate to. They fell just short of the Indians by a score of 66-63 on Saturday. The Pirates' defeat signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

Blevins is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 77.4 points over those games. Jasper's loss dropped their record down to 32-8.
