For the second straight game, Escondido will face off against Canyon Crest Academy. The Cougars will be playing at home against the Ravens at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Escondido has four straight wins, Canyon Crest Academy has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Wednesday, Escondido got the win against Canyon Crest Academy by a conclusive 13-5. Considering the Cougars have won five matchups by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Ryder Taylor made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off 11 hits (and not a single walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Escondido got a massive performance out of Ace Sanchez, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those three hits gave Sanchez a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Andrew Carrilo, who scored a run and stole a base while going 4-for-5.
Escondido was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .436. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.
Escondido's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-2. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Canyon Crest Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 4-10-1.
Escondido's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's game. The Cougars have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game.
