Volleyball Recap: Montgomery Academy's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Saturday

It was a good run, but Montgomery Academy unfortunately witnessed the end of their ten-match winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of the Hoover Buccaneers by a score of 2-1. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Buccaneers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Morgan Springer paced Montgomery Academy's offense, picking up 12 kills. Springer got some help from Rehmat Sidhu and her 24 assists. Kaci Armistead controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Hoover's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cheyenne Conner, who had 15 digs and two aces. Conner has been hot recently, having posted 12 or more digs the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Brynn Toenes, who had 11 digs and five assists.

Montgomery Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 31-4. As for Hoover, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 15-18 record this season.

Montgomery Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against Mountain Brook on the 4th. As for Hoover, they have also already played their next match, a 2-1 loss against Austin on the 4th.
