Basketball Game Preview: Lakewood Lancers vs. Mt. Vernon Yellowjackets

The Lakewood Lancers will square off against the Mt. Vernon Yellowjackets at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Lakewood is coming into the match on a six-game losing streak.

Lakewood is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Heath on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Lakewood came up short against Heath, falling 59-37. While losing is never fun, the Lancers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 701st, while the Bulldogs are ranked 88th).

Meanwhile, Mt. Vernon earned a 63-51 win over Watkins Memorial on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Yellowjackets.

Mt. Vernon has also been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. As for Lakewood, their loss dropped their record down to 2-16.
