New Canaan strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They blew past the Danbury Hatters 43-10. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 29-0.
Henry Stein had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 157 yards and two TDs on only 11 carries, and also picked up 40 receiving yards. Those two rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. Maddox Hoffman was another key player, throwing for 165 yards and a pair of touchdowns on perfect 12-for-12 passing.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: New Canaan was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 202 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
New Canaan didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. Blake Schwartz picked up that interception and then proceeded to rub salt in the wound by taking it back the other way for a touchdown. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
New Canaan's victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Danbury, their loss dropped their record down to 2-3.
New Canaan and Danbury will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next matchups. The next time the Rams see the field they'll take on Greenwich at 7:00 p.m. on the 24th. As for Danbury, their break will end when they face McMahon at 7:00 p.m. on the 24th.
